Our programs
COCO Volunteering Program
Community Children Organisation (COCO) offers volunteer opportunities in community projects throughout Cameroon
Our main goal is reaching to the local communities through out the year by organising different projects and programmes where the people are educated and sensitised on important subjects which goes to gradually remove them out of poverty and improve their standards of living.
Our volunteer program is open for:
- Graduates, undergraduate, Professional and non professionals.
- Anyone who have vocational skills to offer towards the development of a Community
The length of your stay with COCO is variable. If you want to make a real difference, in the community you should consider staying for a minimum of 3 months because it's likely that any shorter time will be insufficient, both in terms of your personal experience and the work that you can do for the organisation. A longer stay provides time for planning out where you can be of the most assistance, fundraising (if necessary), implementing your programs, and, perhaps most importantly, addressing any sustainability issues to make sure that the projects you have worked on can continue after you have left. This can include more fundraising, training, and leaving detailed reports for future volunteers and local staff. COCO also has longer-term positions, especially if you are interested in being a volunteer.
Our Volunteers shall be involved in various community education and sensitisation programs. The various subjects of these programs shall be:
- Computer Education,
- Teaching Position in Primary and Secondary,
- Orphanage /children Home,
- Working with kids in disabled centre
- Civic Education and Human Rights
- Hospital / Maternity
- Sensitisation on HIV/AIDS
- Malaria Prevention
Training using flip charts, videos, pictures, group discussions. Volunteers applying for these Projects should identify and mention the project field in which they are good in so that we can effectively arrange an even distribution during the volunteering period. Volunteers should also mention their language proficiency, because volunteer who are interested in working should be able to speak French and English.
Other free working days shall be used for other social projects such as visiting local schools and children, assisting the rural people in minor tasks such as painting, building and cleaning.
Housing
Our volunteers will be hosted by the host Organisation, Host families, Renting or Hotel Accommodation.
